Marianne's Alpha Kappa is a small boutique that follows its students step by step.

Standardized tests preparation is a tough process for students and parents. 

We will provide students customized tutoring services focusing on each particular student’s needs for their standardized tests regarding the High Schools entrance exam and College entrance exams.

​

Also, for students coming from a French curriculum who are not used to standardized tests and the American curriculum, our team specializes in helping them make the connections between the two curriculums and enhance their performance at the standardized tests.

 SHSAT:
Specialized High Schools Admissions Test

For Public High Schools

  • The eight Specialized High Schools in New York City that require the SHSAT to apply are:
    - The Bronx High School of Science 
    - The Brooklyn Latin School 
    - Brooklyn Technical High School 
    - High School for Math, Science, and Engineering at City College 
    - High School of American Studies at Lehman College 
    - Queens High School for the Sciences at York College 
    - Staten Island Technical High School 
    - Stuyvesant High School

  • If Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts is the only Specialized High School you’re interested in, you don’t have to take the Specialized High School Admissions Test. Your audition is how you apply!

  • Registration is done through the student’s current school counselor

  • Admission is solely determined by a student’s score on the SHSAT relative to other applicants in the same year

ISEE 
Independent School Entrance Examination

For Private High Schools

  • The ISEE may be taken once per "testing season" for a total of three times per school year

  • There are multiple test dates in a given month, and registration can be done online.

 SSAT
 Scholastic Aptitude Test

For Private High Schools

  • The SSAT offers different testing options inside the US and Canada or Internationally: Paper-Based SSAT, Computer-Based SSAT at Prometric Test Center, or Computer-Based SSAT at Home.

  • Registrations are made online and late registrations are possible.

  • Upper level students can take the SSAT multiple times per testing year, the numbers depend on the modes of SSAT testing.

  • A student’s results are compared only with other students of the same grade who are applying to some of the most selective independent schools in the country.
